SLOC/Carol's Team Labor Day Nav Training
August 30 - September 1, 2008
A bit rusty after running trails and roads all summer? How about three days of quality
time in the forest on some of the best terrain in the Midwest?
Google map to all venues is
here
Saturday morning, Hawn State Park, 10AM.
Site of the 2006 US Team Trials. Woods are generally fast with patches of thick
undergrowth. Small, but distinctive rock features are found throughout the park.
We'll be using the steeper, rockier, eastern side of the park to avoid the really
thick stuff. Meet at the main picnic area.
Saturday Afternoon, Cliff Cave County Park, 4PM.
Site of the 2005 US Intercollegiate Championships. Dense woods, denser trails, giant
sinkholes everywhere! This is as weird as Midwest terrain gets.
Saturday Evening, Tower Grove Park, TBD
Depending on the mood of the group, we may do a night sprint session in Tower Grove.
Or, we may just go eat and drink on neighboring South Grand - the most eclectic
culinary neighborhood in St. Louis.
Sunday Morning, Cuivre River State Park, 9AM
Blazing fast woods, even this time of year. Large ridge and valley with some
intricate contour detail.
Sunday Afternoon, Open
We'll leave this to the mood of the group. If the weather is nice, we might hit a winery
and then go for a hike at beautiful Klondike Park.
Monday Morning, Forest Park, 8AM
Sprint session in one of the world's largest urban parks. Conveniently located next to the
MetroLink for those wanting to get back to the airport.
