Carol's Team Newsletter
June, 2005
We've put just about everything on hold for a bit while we tend to Carol's needs in her
last days. Still, we have a few things to report.
Carol
Carol has lost all ability to communicate and will likely pass away before the end of the
month. While this is terribly sad, the quick decline is a mercy of sorts. I'll try to keep the
update page current with the latest on her
condition.
Because the Carolers has grown to such a large group, an open sharing session at Carol's
memorial service won't be practical. Please remember that the
tributes on this site is a very appropriate
forum for those who wish to share their final thoughts on how Carol has touched our
lives. Use the "contact us" link at the top of this page to submit stories. You can't attach
pictures, but if you let me know that you have some, I'll reply and let you know where to
send them.
Sponsorship
We continue to be amazed by the outpouring of support for what we're doing. We're
starting to see the fruits of some of our outreach efforts. People who have never met
Carol are touched by her story and all the support for her that they see documented here.
Last month we received official word that we will be hosting the team trials for the US
Orienteering Team in May, 2006. We expect this fundraiser to yield results similar to
what we saw by hosting Intercollegiate Championships this spring. We're also kicking
around the idea of hosting an adventure race fundraiser.
Development
Not much progress to report on this front, although I can report that the workspace I've
carved out in the new house is a considerably nicer environment for late-night coding
than what I had set up before.
Racing
We entered two teams in the Mission
on the Muscatatuck. After much speculation as to whether experience would prevail
over horsepower, we ended up tying for first place!
We step back from national competition in June to do two fun local events: Conquer
Castlewood and Goomna.
